Hi all, Which areas in OKC are decent low crime area that is safe? I'm coming from Western Canada. Or should I ask what areas should I avoid as far as crime and safety? Which districts or neighborhoods are good but yet relatively close to OKC centre? I'm looking to buy a small house. Thanks so much......D.

Hi all, I'm looking for help (from your experience) to find lower crime and safer neighborhoods to purchase a small house in Oklahoma City. I'd like to be in the city as opposed to suburbs as the housing prices seem lower there and I'm seeking inexpensive. There seems to be a number of nice smaller homes for 50-60,000 but I'm not sure of the neighborhoods with respect to crime and safety....Thanks again.......D...

The only two that aren't in high crime area are the one on Tulsa Ave and North Donald. OKC is nothing like western Canada. Much more crime and violence.

Sorry I meant to respond to this earlier.
The house on Donald, Tulsa, and Altadena are in pretty okay areas.
The houses you linked on the southwest side seem alright, but crime on the SW side is very hit or miss. Generally speaking, things are okay south of 44th, but who knows if that can change.
The rest I would definitely avoid.

At the same time I'll see if there is anything else that looks promising and if so I'm wondering if you could still be so kind as to please assist me through this process with your valuable insight. It's just difficult for me being 24 hours away (Saskatoon, SK, Canada) and not knowing the city at all. I am serious though on getting something and I'd like to do so soon. Saskatoon! the birth place of one of my favourite singer songwriters, Joni Mitchell!! Love your city, been there about 25 years ago. As for you moving down here to OKC.. pretty much nothing new to add except maybe you can look into some repossessed homes.. some of those you can get good deals on. Keep us abreast how your quest goes.

Hi there, yes Joni is from this neck of the woods. I'm not so sure he's too happy about her home lately as the city has been dogging it for years with respect to doing some form of public landscape recognition for her and apparently it's ruffled her feathers. Incredibly talented though for sure.... I'm looking at this place but again the area is subject. What are your thoughts...
