Peggy...I was at the myriad gardens and bricktown...Not half as bad as you think. I was thinking that all those trees were going to be demolished but they held their ground. On a special note I visited the memorial to look at the survivor tree. It was rather amazing because they have a whole crew constantly supporting the tree in many ways.

I just moved here and everyone is apologizing to me for the weather. I feel terrible. A high School burned down near us, and several people have died.

I am glad to hear that, Happy. I had heard about the Survivor tree that had volunteers caring for it during the storm.
My area in Hughes county had tremendous tree damage back in 2000, I think. Our pecans looked devastated then but they are fine now.
Well, Susie Q, this hasn't been such a great introduction to OK for you. I too feel terrible about the loss of lives. Things will be better soon and we will see the sun again.

Although I cant see your pics. The Bradfords just fell apart. That is the first thing I saw when I drove around certain areas. I dont know why people plant them. They have a nice look and have beautiful blooms in the spring but they are so weak for the Oklahoma weather. They say a Bradford pear only lives like 30- 40 years....

Well, I am in Edmond tonight and things really don't look all that bad. I have been in NW OKC, Edmond, and Yukon. I think NW OKC had the most branches down. It looks like power is back on most everywhere in those areas, and all the businesses are open. I was surprised to see so much ice still on the trees and signs.

The whole state is bad! The hardest hit areas in OKC and Tulsa were the ones with the largest trees. OKC got nailed in Crown heights/Edgemere ect. because that is where all the old growth is. Tulsa got hit even worse because the whole inner city is full of big trees. They are reporting that there is still major power outage in inner Tulsa. I cant imagine how long it will take for OKC and Tulsa to look normal again after all the damage.

Easy, the far NW barely got hit at all. No joke, on my drive to work (2 miles away) I haven't seen any significant damage. Not to downplay other parts of town, but the far NW got off way easy. Even Bethany (5 miles to my south) got hit worse. Noticeably worse.
