Hi everyone! I am a 30 year old female that may be taking a retail management job in Oklahoma City. I am born and raised in Northwest CT (the more rural/woodsy part of the state).

I am single but I do have 3 dogs. Two are french bulldogs so only 20 pounds, one is a rescue hound mix, only 40lbs.

All are well behaved and we have never had issues as a renter, no destructive tendencies or annoying habits. The hound mix has obtained her AKC Canine Good Citizen title (in which you have to pass a test by a certified instructor) and both frenchies will hopefully be passing the test later this month.

How dog friendly is Oklahoma City? Especially when it comes to renting? Any areas you would suggest for a single female to look into for renting? The cost of living and price of rentals is soooo much cheaper down there, I would love to find a small house with a fenced in back yard if I can afford it based on salary.

Thanks for all your input!

Well, I'm not sure about renters, but I've seen a few dog parks around the city.

Also, there's a bar that allows dogs called Fatdog: https://www.fatdogokc.com/. Dogs and cold beer are a good combo in my book!

I think you'll be fine on finding a place of your own. You can get a smaller residence with a backyard for pretty cheap.

Expect a pretty big change culturally. As one who lived in New England a bit, and as one that was born/raised in Oklahoma, the South-Central/Southwest is quite a bit different than the Northeast.

Welcome to Oklahoma and blessings!
