I just discovered my state is taxing Ebay transactions. Its so annoying I have to pay tax on hobby items I am purchasing from individuals. Why pick on Ebay also? I wonder how much revenue they expect to gain from this stupid decision? I am going to avoid Ebay purchases now whenever possible. I wrote my state representative but no response. Go figure.

Amazon more often charges sales tax now. From falling tax revenues, legislators thought they had to do something. It's now more fair to local merchants who always had to charge a sales tax to their customers.

Amazon sales tax being collected in OK has happened a while back. It still beats driving to WalMart and hanging out there.

This new tax is effective July 1st in a few different states including Oklahoma. My argument against it is I was buying used items from individuals for my hobbies. Isn't it the same as making purchases at a yard sale or on facebook marketplace? I am just irritated whenever there is a new tax. This is definitely a new one.

You have always owed this tax unless you live in a state with no state sales tax. The states are now finally closing the loophole dishonest people have been using to avoid paying it.
