But aren't all those taxes relevent to how you control your lifestyle? Purchases, what sort of house/neighborhood, where to work. They're ALL related to how one lives and controls his lifestyle, so really, what is the advantage of one (income taxlow property tax) over the other (no income tax/high property tax) sales tax, what have you? Seems like a futile game of counting beans.

A lot of it is lifestyle choice. I raise my own beef. I don't pay tax on that. I raise pork. Same thing. Produce we buy in season, from roadside vendors as often as possible and we can and pickle. We have chickens, geese, and turkeys. Poultry and eggs are ours by going outside for a few minutes. We don't do that for the tax benefits, but for the health and quality of food benefits. But I make every effort to write off everything I can. I am self employed, so "getting a raise" isn't an issue.

I get stuff on ebay - some of which has actually come from OK, btw, but overall, the shipping costs definitely exceed the cost of the items, thanks to the USPO.
I'm not real versed in OK tax law. I know in NJ, there was tax on the shipping if there was a tax on the item. For example, clothing is not taxed in NJ, so shipping wasn't. But books are taxable, so the shipping costs would also be taxed. I think that was a unique law for NJ, though. I would be very surprised if OK had the same law.

I've always admired your lifestyle. It's not only cost effective, but self sufficient.
