After 27 years of fleeing west to California I am fighting the urge to return to my hometown...LA losing its luster, state near bankruptcy thanks to government pensions, too much diversity. Although I live in Redondo Beach (glorious) I work in Irvine (40 miles away), tough finding work now close in proximity. I know the grand days of OKC that I grew up in (1961 thru 1983) are long gone but wondered what any other returnees have come to find coming back. I'm partial to northwest OKC (not Edmond) but northwest as in Mercy Hospital area and further north and west. I will be coming back to a big family (I'm the only one who strayed) so I will have support and old friends too. I work in IT/Healthcare.

So whats up these days in the Sooners State?

I think the grand days of Oklahoma City have been making a comeback.

Not sure you will like it here now................

Traffic is horrible......I bet it takes 30 minutes to go from one side of the city to the other during rush hour. And rush hour lasts almost a full hour now..............

You have all these phony yuppies that wear t-shirts with Oklahoma City Thunder.......as though they are as good as the Lakers or something. They've completely changed that nice area north of I40 and east of town into micro breweries, clubs, restaurants, shops, etc........just another venue for people to party instead of staying home and going to church the way they ought to. It looks like OU football is going to be part of a PAC-16 or something, so traditional games won't be played.......can you imagine OU football without beating Nebraska at least once in a while?

Nope, Oklahoma is changing and not necessarily for the better..........thank God Cattleman's is still there.............
