In yet another thread of mine for getting information, due to my planning on moving to Oklahoma, I'm curious as to if anyone knows about the Michelin plant in Ardmore? It's one of the places I'm considering trying to get a job at. How do you go about applying there? Do you apply at the facility or go through an employment service? In addition to the OKC area, I'm interested in Ardmore because of it's proximity to the lakes in southern Oklahoma because of my love for jet skiing. Not to mention the relatively small town environment.

The Oklahoma state employment office in Ardmore would probably know, if Ardmore has one.

I have seen the plant many times going through ARDMORE on my way to OKC from DALLAS. If you have never seen it, it is very large. I am assuming it wouldn't be hard to find a job there.

As for Ardmore, I like it for what it is. It seems like a place that has a future and is growing. They even have a Starbucks that is very modern and new as well as small town places as well.

Here is your website for Michelin careers. I suspect those are prized jobs and turn over on the line may be slow in Ardmore. But you never know it is worth a shot to get your foot in the door..Ardmore is a conservative town with lots of old oil money but they have a lot of new businesses and it is quite liveable.
Also many of the assembly line jobs may be filled by temp workers with possible going full time permanent as a lot of factory jobs have been GOPed this way.

It is very hard to get a job w/ Michelin. I have several relatives who work there. It is the "prize job" for a fairly large area in southern Oklahoma and many people wait years to get on there. Turnover is very low--people rarely leave the job until retirement because it offers a higher standard of living to the working class than would any other job in the area. A lot of is has to do w/ who you know--I know some families who have two or three generations working there. There is also a rigorous physical endurance test one must pass before even being considered.

You might also consider the Sherman/Denison (Texas) area. It's larger than Ardmore, growing quickly, and closer to Lake Texoma for skiing.
