Thanks, Jammie. I am practicing with my camera so I can put up my own pics. The humidity is a problem right now, so the scenery doesn't come out right.

The humidity of eastern Oklahoma is the one flaw it has compared to western Oklahoma. Now some people prefer the open spaces of the west but most prefer the trees and green of the east. I'm somewhat on the fence which I guess is why I live in OKC.

For Example: OKC is 98 feels like 99 right now and Tulsa is 100 feeling like 103.

There is a mix of hardwoods and pines around Big Cedar so the falls are spectacular. The ozarks are beautiful because all the leaves change but the Ouachitas have some green splashed into the picture.

What I like about the pines is that the trails are not overgrown because the pine needles keep the underbrush down. I loved it when I lived there and could go walking through the towering green pines on a cool crisp winter day.

Thanks, Eddie, for giving us such a pleasant thought today.

I am really excited about at least visiting Big Cedar. My 12 year old daughter (13 in a few weeks) is not so excited and is afraid of being out in the middle of nowhere. I am hoping that although it is a small community that there still would be enough kids that she would get along with that she would still have plenty of friends. We live in a town of about 19,000 but we are only 30-40 minutes outside of Fresno, CA. There is no movie theater, mall, or much more than a few fast food restaurants where we live now. And the town is closed by 9 or 10 o'clock. So I think the adjustment isn't as bad as if we lived in the middle of Fresno in walking distance of the "big city" life. LOL

Anyone have any idea how homes are selling in and around Big Cedar? Realtors will always give you the bs answers and try to make it look like you better buy now and that properties are going up so it is a real investment. I know, I am a Realtor and real estate broker here in California.

I couldn't tell you how well or how badly the homes are selling in Big Cedar. But, I envy you going there! It's a beautiful place.

Default Big Cedar and Area

Also, after growing up in Idaho I moved to California with a little time in Brooklyn, NY and the fast pace, bs of a big city, local politics, and rude people have just gotten to me. My wife tells me all the time that she doesn't want our 4 1/2 year old and 3 year old going to the schools here in Fresno.... so I need to something soon.

Can anyone tell me about the schools in Big Cedar area???
The closest schools to Big Cedar are approx 15 miles to the West in the community of Whitesboro; a community High School, Jr. H.S., and Elem. school. Big Cedar is at the junction of Hwy 68 (East/West) and Hwy 259 (North/South). Big Cedar is about 8 miles from the Arkansas State line. It is very rural and is surrounded by the Quachita National Forest with the Winding Stair Mts to the North and the Kiamichi Mts to the South. Land has skyrocketed here; used to be less than $1000 acre now 3/4 k or more per acre; still cheap compared to some locales.
