Ice storms are kind of neat and really pretty........stay inside, don't worry about work (no one makes it in anyway), read a couple of good books.........keep your freezer closed so nothing thaws out, and if it starts to, move it outside, though. The up side is, there is plenty of ice hanging off the roof for the scotch.

I remember the ice storm of December 2007 in northeast Oklahoma. It was such a sight to see. And Goodpasture made a great description of what you can do when it happens. I remember we lost power for about two days and my mom and I went out all day long for those both days just doing many different things just to keep warm and to keep preoccupied. It was quite an experience.

Thanks for the info! I've never realized there was a "level" between rain and snow. I actually have seen snow, I think it's snowed two or three times here where I live (in my lifetime). But, we spent many winter weekends snow skiing in Tahoe as a kid and teenager. Now, my only experience with snow is running in and out of the casino in Reno! hee, hee, hee

I just have no experience with ice. In the Sierra's, it goes from rain to snow fluries, and yes, it's the light fluffy kind, dry. But, when it "rains" ice, does it hurt coming down? Yikes! We do have hail here, which I've always thought was freezing rain, every once in a while. It only lasts for a few minutes though, then goes back to rain. It doesn't stick though, it melts fairly fast.

Those pictures were amazing, I can't imagine have ice stuck to everything like that! That ice ball looks like a crystal golf ball. I'm glad to hear that everyone stays inside. I can't imagine trying to drive on the roads. Here, people freak out a bit if there is a slight shiny spot on the road! Shift it into 4-low! :-)

A few pages back Redbird wants more pics....which is what this thread is about, oddly enough

So, this group is the 2007 ice storm since that is what the latest conversation is about.
