And the republicans have brainwashed people into thinking that they will one day be rich like them, trickle down economy. Do you see it working? I don't.
Stillwater handles two super Wal-Marts okay without the downtown looking rundown and totally dead.

Legislators act like since they have been so successful in life, everybody else should be, too. But not everybody can be as successful in life as a lawmaker.

If Oklahomans lack the willpower to vote out Republican legislators in Nov. 2016, then they lack the willpower to put people in office who can make Oklahoma a better state. (You can't make Oklahoma a better state by voting to put your church pastor or deacon in office.) If that happens, people, especially if they can find a decent paying job, might as will leave Oklahoma for a state that has its act together better. For a suggestion, Colorado, though, not necessarily the Denver area, since the cost of living is high there.

Why would someone from New Jersey start a thread about towns to dislike in Oklahoma? New Jersey has towns, doesn't it? I've been there a few times, but only en route to somewhere else. Oh, once I went to Princeton with a friend who was attending a seminar. It has an attractive locale. I rented a car and drove to many places. There is a park names Washington Crossing the Delaware Park. Maybe I'm remembered it wrong, but it's something like that. Then I drove by the Lindbergh house where their baby was kidnapped in Hopewell, NJ.

Good question Rubio. Why would someone in new jersey care about what towns we don't like?

Stillwater is a college town so maybe that is why it can handle a Wal-Marts. Tahlequah is also a college town and we have one and can handle it.

I agree with you Stillwater Townie. Can't rep either of you again right now.

ERISAjunkie used to live here, or was seriously thinking of moving here for quite some time. He/she was a regular on the Oklahoma threads. They were quite knowledgeable about Oklahoma and really seemed to like it here. I haven't seen any post from them in a while.

Default Nah...

There are five churches: Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, and one non-denomination. Outside of Grove you can find the Splitlog Church (Seneca-Cayuga) and a cowboy church, both of which are also non-denominational. If you are a gambler there are several places to lose your money including Miami, Tulsa and Missouri. If you want to gamble with sharks go to Vegas or the Gulf. You could have driven across the world's longest multiple arch dam and wrapped your lips around some of the best bbq in America. You whined.

Grove is a peninsula city, on Grand Lake O' The Cherokees, that is in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. I don't believe you ever crossed the Stand Wattie Bridge. He was an Indian man and the last CSA General to stand down his troop after the Civil War ended.

The MO/AR border is unusual. For one thing it is not far from War Eagle which is hidden in the mountain bed beneath Eureka Springs - which you also missed. The Pea Ridge National Civil War Battlefield is on this border which is the beinning of 300 or more non-stop miles of the Ozark, Boston, and Quichita mountain ranges in Western Arkansas. Take a break at Hot springs while you fill canteens with pure water from the mountain that cries. But, you'll miss the Spring splender of AR 5 when the Dogwood trees are as white as snow.

You don't know much about politics. Grove is a small town with many very nice opportunities for visitors to get to know the city. Unlike most small towns Grove is not hard to assimilate into, nor is it particularly political. Furthere more it has been ranked in the Top 5 places to retire for years, and its botanical garden is a top ranked destination. But you would not know these things or take the time to learn. It is an impossible task when your mind is closed and you are sorrowful.

PS: More than one of our very liberal residents moved from sunny California with their retirement money and settled in Grove. The Western Editor of Dog World was one of the newer settlers a few years ago . You'll find more than a few in Buffalo Shores.

I could never live in a place where churches (seemed to be hundreds of them) outnumbered people. And the one time I did go to a bar, a bunch of police officers came and did a search of the place for illegal gambling or something. Some real twilight zone activity out there. Also, Im a very liberal person, so the conservative attitude of Oklahoma is just a bad fit for me.

Thanks, okie, it just seemed like a strange thing to ask. Not that there haven't been stranger. LOL

I've been trying to remember the name of the man who was inquiring about Eufaula several months ago, then on various posts about other places, he checked out several. He posted often there for awhile, but hasn't in a few months. Do you have any idea who I'm talking about? Seems like he was looking to buy a fixer-upper.

Edit: Just recalled it is joe from wisconsin. He first inquired about anyplace and someone recommended Pawnee.
