All well and good and I would never try to refute hard data (as you did with some of mine in past exchanges
), it's more the attitude and tone of some of your posts....it seems like you're looking at it like "Oh those poor dregs of society are pulling the state of Oklahoma's economics/culture down."
They're people. I think they deserve a tad bit of dignity/respect when they're referred to, especially if they're elderly. That's just me.

Ever been to just west of Foyil, on the county roads between Foyil and Oologah Lake? Disappointing, is about the nicest way I could describe it.

I guess I'd mention Maud. I was in Maud a month or so ago. It is the birthplace of Wanda Jackson- the "Queen of Rockabilly." In her honor, the town of Maud has named their main street Wanda Jackson Blvd. I wanted to take a picture of a street sign. This was my last night in OK before I was returning to Jersey the next day. I pulled up to a sign that wasn't near private property and started to snap a few photos. Some guys, who were hanging out at a convenience store parking lot accross the street came over and asked what I was doing. I tried to be friendly and explain. They said they were tired of people from NJ coming in just to take photos like they were wildlife or something. I guess they saw my plates. Deciding that descretion was the better part of valor- especially on a dark street late at night, I wished them a good night and hightailed it out of Maud.

Oklahoma is the Native State. It has the second largest Native American population in America. It is also a natural state with grand lakes, beautiful streams, rolling hills, and abundant wildlife as well as red earth and miles of dust - depending where you live.

I think it's terrible the way you categorize people in or from small towns as being un-educated, insestious and missing teeth. How degrading. Who placed you on the judgemental pedistal? I've been in the US Navy 22 years and am from Fairfax Oklahoma. Yes... A small town in the middle of no where. I also own a home in Virginia Beach and purchased a Farm outside of Fairfax. I like many have been a positive contributor to every city or town that I have had the opportunity to live in. I have a BS with Major in Biology as does my wife. Missing teeth, making moonshine, pickin' a banjo, incest, etc?? How dare you make judgement like that. Take a look arround, you may be amazed at what you see once you open your eyes!

I never lived on a res, per se, but I lived amongst the Nine Tribes for many years. I was very happy. I was in many homes, and I learned many things. Some of the things I wittnessed made me very sad and some made me very mad. I don't know what the answer is, I wish I did.
