Think a lot of folks in Ponca City just commute to other towns for work, I know a lot of my coworkers live there.

Wonder if the various government jobs in Muskogee might be why they seem to stay where they're at. That was the case in the city where I used to live in California.

Well to be fair, I live in OKC and can't find a cleaning lady worth a damn. I'm about to fire the one I have, she hasn't vacuumed my small living room in 2 months! Maybe OK just has bad cleaning people

Get off your high horse and stop being so sanctimonius.
Well, why don't you get on your high horse and call your fellow African Americans coworkers "coloreds and Negros". Please let us know how that works out for you.

I spent a week in Grove, OK to see my aunt and uncle who moved there from San Jose and shoot that place was awful. I felt like I was in a different county. The most fun I had was at a nearby Indian casino and driving to see the edges of Missouri and Arkansas (which were beautiful by the way).

I could never live in a place where churches (seemed to be hundreds of them) outnumbered people. And the one time I did go to a bar, a bunch of police officers came and did a search of the place for illegal gambling or something. Some real twilight zone activity out there. Also, Im a very liberal person, so the conservative attitude of Oklahoma is just a bad fit for me.

From Houston, Dallas, OKC, Tulsa, KC, St Louis, there is really not a hell of a lot of difference. Any differences that you think you perceive are generally going to be coincidental or just dumb luck. Meet more people, visit another side of town, increase your sample size. People are people and they don't change that much across middle America. Some of you are overly sensitive.

Quite honestly that is only true if you cannot be a "live and let live" type of person. There is greater diversity (on many different levels: ethnically, religiously, and certainly politically) in Oklahoma than to what you allude.

For example, I've learned to even tolerate and even get along with the few Longhorn fans that are brave enough to wear their burnt orange in public here in Oklahoma.

Not sure what was awful about Grove, it is just a small town. Not sure what you expected out of it. But as many times as I have been to LA, I'd have to say that most of that was awful. I'd take Tulsa any time, or Grove for that matter. For a liberal, you seem closed to new places. Grove is a fun place for people who boat on beautiful Grand Lake, and for people who have lake houses on Grand Lake. If an Indian Casino is the best you could find to do there, then I'd agree, not much fun.
