I'm an old fan of OSU. I don't care for the bright orange they use now; I prefer the old burnt orange color. (Hmmmmm, there's that "old" word again.) Since my 'boys were on TV a lot this fall, even out here, I got a look at the new football uniform combinations and I think some of them were dreadful.

Yesterday I heard from a friend in OKC that OSU is slowly phasing in the gray that they've been wearing this year, and they'll eventually get rid of orange!! He said they have been adding gray to more and more things around campus.

How can I tell people that "it's always Halloween at my school", if they change the school colors to black and gray?

Anybody hearing this story...anybody know if there's any truth to it? Thanks.

A number of schools are changing their colors, or wearing a number of different uniforms. University of Oregon, for example; they have multiple combinations of uniforms. My alma mater, Arizona State, just changed this year as well. The uniforms are designed by Nike, so more uniforms may mean more money for Nike. OSU gets the Nike treatment as well, see this link for details. There's even a combo creator near the top of the web page, so you can see what the uniforms look like, although every combination has orange in it.

I've seen a lot of people wearing the gray with orange combo lately. I can't imagine them loosing the orange all together! I heard they actually can make something like 70 different uniform combos. If they lost the orange, it would reduce the number of combinations they could make.

Slightly off subject, but it's my subject so I declare it's OK.

In the Kitsap Sun, far away out here in Washington, the picture representing the Monday bowl games in the TV section today - Brandon Weeden throwing a pass. Someone must know I miss my Okie home. Brandon's wearing orange, by the way.

Happy New Year, orange lovers (and the rest of you, too.)
