When the major tornado hit Wichita Falls years ago, that was the reason many died. After that, we were always advised to never get in our cars and try to outrun a tornado.

Duncan may be in for a rough time today.
Yep, that's who I heard say it too! I guess they still have several minutes before it reached town so the idea was to get out of the way by head in the opposite direction, but as we all know they can turn. I don't think I would ever try to out guess a tornado. That said, if I lived in a small town like Carney, far away from the next nearest town, and I knew it was coming directly for my town, I might consider running as well. Obviously, in the city, it would cause a massive traffic jam, setting many people up to be killed. I've already been stuck in a weather related traffic jam (fleeing Houston ahead of hurricane Rita) and I will take my chances in my home before I ever do something like that again.

Those are Mammatus clouds (we used to call them ice cream scoop clouds growing up). I can't remember exactly, but I think they are pushed down out of a large thunderhead (something about lowering pressure or sinking air). I don't think they produce a funnel themselves (don't quote me on that), but often indicate a tornado is close. I know we always took it as a huge warning sign that something bad was going on. Stay safe, looks like a rough day.

Weatherman in Tulsa is talking about northeastern OK and across the line in KS. I keep hearing to wear a helmet if storm is eminent, which is first time I remember ever hearing that re a storm; however, I understand the reasoning.

This sucks. Same place as 1999, and just as bad too, apparently.

What I can't understand though, and I'm not trying to be insensitive, is why they rebuild in the same exact spot, It happens again then they seem shocked when history repeats. I also don't understand why shelters/safe rooms/ basements are not mandatory and part of the building code( maybe they are and I'm not aware) but I see people saying they had no shelter and ran to a neighbors.

So sorry for what you're all been through these past couple of days! Being in Western Arkansas, I'm now a bit nervous. These storms should die down a bit once the sun goes down, so hopefully that's the case. Right now though, my main concern is for you all! I'm fearing that there are many deaths! None reported yet, but that destruction is just too extreme for their to not be any deaths.
