Some years ago there was an Italian restaurant in Cushing. Pretty decent food, ok wine list.....lasted several months but ended up closing....mostly cause of bad service.

A bbq place moved in and it was ok.....not spectacular......and in Oklahoma spectacular is essential in bbq if its going to be around long.

Was considering what to eat tonight on the way home through Cushing, saw this formerly dark and forebodingly empty shopping center space with lights on and cars in front.

A NEW Italian restaurant. My first thought was "someone new has found the frozen salmon ravioli section of Sam's Club." But what the h*** lets give it a try. We had fresh fresh baked rolls served with REAL ( that is REAL) butter. Steak houses around here with $30 dollar entrees serve margarine. Dutchie had the shrimp scampie. Have you ever noticed the difference between the frozen stuff and the fresh stuff? It even smells fresher and tastier. The shrimp scampie SMELLED fresh. D said it tasted like it too. I had the meat ravioli. Not square factory stuff, but obviously made early today in the kitchen next to where I was sitting. Glass of Chiani was good and less than $5.00. Tiramisu obviously came from the same kitchen as the ravioli. tasted the Italian sausage. It too came from the same kitchen.......hand crafted Italian sausage links (they sell by the pound if you want).

The owner has been in the USA from Milan for about 5 years and Cushing about 8 months.

Way to go Cushing...........

Truth.

I might have to head out to Cushing for some of that sausage. Sounds tasty!

What's the name of this place? Might be worth the trip from Piedmont. Check out Oklahoma City Restaurants | Urbanspoon add that restaurant if you can. That is a very frequented site for restaurant reviews.

Have their house dressing for your salad. Amazing. And it makes up for the fact that the lettuce is iceberg.

They have a "Roma" restaurant in Durant and Guthrie. Napoli's in Sand Springs is pretty much the same thing as is Napolis in Sapulpa. I agree, it's so very good food at very cheap prices! Go hungry! It's worth it.

I meant to say that all of the above places I mentioned are very similar in style, menu & prices to "Roma" in Cushing. If I recall correctly, the various owners of Durant and Sand Springs are not related because I asked. But it does appear the Guthrie and Cushing locations may be owned by the same people: http://www.romasitalianrestaurant.com/ I've been to the Sand Springs location and the Durant location several times.

I'm hungry right now...wish any of them would deliver to us. Yes, I'm being seriously lazy! We've been mowing to try to stay ahead of all this rain coming...so we're too tired and too dirty to make an appearance out on the town.

The Roma is pretty good in Durant. Consistently good food at a reasonable price and the place has added space to handle the growing crowd. Durant gets locals as well as the casino crowd in twn on weekends but Roma's seems more local and has excellent service. We had a family reunion meal there and they offered to do family tickets for us despite the hassle ad handled it perfectly. Just be aware of the parking lot with low posts that can be hard to see and do damage. Park on the street if you go
