Here are some pics I forgot to post from last summer.

The road to the lake, south of Holdenville.

This house always has an interesting project going on.

Walking home from the store.

Toward downtown.

I think I'm on Creek Street.

Friendly horse.

Across the street from the horse.

The infamous railroad tracks that the horse has to live next to.

The Tyson place west on old 270.

The prison further west on old 270.

Prison water tower.

They are just starting work on the addition to the prison. Yay, more jobs for Holdenville.

A different section of the prison where they have more freedom.

For when you need even more junk.

Need a job? They are still hiring.

Special Parts makers.

For a good hamburger go here.

Old depot, & new fountain.

Fountain with bed & breakfast in the background.

We got this new clock for the centennial.

A good question.

Great pics, Peggy! Holdenville looks like such a nice town. It actually looks just like what I pictured Oklahoma looking like. Loved the pic of the horse.

BTW, I've been trying to rep just about everyone on this forum for days and I can't do it. I guess I have to go to the NJ forum and do some there to be able to rep anyone here again.

Fantastic pictures Peggy. When did Holdenville get a prison? I am sure there was not one there when I was growing up. I know some here work at the prison, but I thought they drove to McAlester State Pen. Again, fantastic pics!

It's been there for about 12 years. It is a private prison (la-de-da).

A "private" prison? Do you have to pay membership dues?

Oh yeah, it's real exclusive!

Just kidding. It is run by a private corporation that contracts with the states to take care of the prisoners.

That place with the junk? It looks like there's a whole greenhouse frame, just waiting for someone to take it home and set it up.

I was going to do that here, but I'd have to set it up at least 3' off the ground and use waders to get to it. Phooey.

I think they use those frames for their shelters when they are having a sale.

I would like to have a greenhouse, but there would be a lot of problems. Wind & hail destroy them. Then, in the winter we have warm sunny days that can heat the greenhouse up too much, so you have to have expensive vents.
