Default Have We Ever Met A Museum We Didn't Like?

Let's not forget the Will Rogers Museum in Claremore. Great place and I'll go back first chance I get. If you've never been, I recommend it. It's not far from the Hammett House restaurant -- home of the largest piece of pie I've ever seen.

Asking an Indian to pick one favorite part of mother nature is like making albinos pick cotton without sunscreen....

Sorry. cannot take credit for that quip. Just modified it from something I read somewhere.

One of my favorite landmarks in Oklahoma is a sacred mountain where my people go to vision quest or to just get away from the chaotic world. I shall not name the place, nor the county. We Indians are secretive like that.

I would have picked something from nature too Redbird, but not for the same reason. Loved your post by the way.

redbird, just curious, from which tribe are you (if you don't mind me asking)?

I have a lot of Native American friends and I always find the similarities and the differences between each tribe really interesting. For example, the Chickasaw and Choctaw were actually one tribe at one time (you know the stick story?). Anyway that's off topic but I just thought I'd ask.

not sure if you would call it a landmark, but I would say Redbud Trees. I know that sounds odd.

But out here in San Diego, I paid $40 apiece so I could have 2 redbud trees in my yard to remind me of my home. I miss those.

Even if it's not named, it qualifies. It's good to know that things like that make you feel at home.

When I was a kid growing up in far northeastern Oklahoma, one of our "landmarks" was the Spook Light. I never really saw it but it always made a good story. I thought of it because I was just reading on article about it on the Oklahoman/Channel 9 website newsok.com.
