Ok I am seriously thinking about switching to uverse. I have had nothing but problems with cox cable. not specifically the cable or internet but just with their horrid customer service. When cox first installed my cable the guy didn't show up until 10 at night which was 2 hours after they were suppose to be there. He then used some crappy hook up and told me if it stopped working to call and they would bring out another one. Well surprise surprise it went out the next day. I called cox only to be told they were going to charge a 35 dollar service call to bring me another part. Well I went to wal mart and bought one for 2 bucks. Next they turned off our service twice when they were suppose to turn off someone else and it took them 4 days to come back out and turn it back on. This last time we had an issue with them we moved and we had called them several times to transfer the service, well when we moved we hooked everything up and it worked so we figured they must have transferred the service. Well never assume anything with cox cable a month later they came and turned off our cable and said we didn't' transfer it. then they sent us a bill for the new house the old house and an installation fee for turning it back on. Needless to say after at least 8 hours of raising holy hell with they horrible customer service they finally got everything hooked back up and knocked 20 bucks off our almost 200 a month bill. Now I really don't need to pay 200 bucks a month to be treated like crap. So what I want to know is att customer service this bad? Also how is the hd and the internet? I want to switch but I like to play games on the internet and don't want crappy internet service. Also I don't need more bad customer service, I get that enough from lovely cox cable lol. So if you have uverse and like it or don't please respond..... Thanks!!

Your experience with U-Verse will be based on the quality of fibre in your area and how close you are to the closest hub. My son has U-Verse and loves it, he now has 25M download speed but he's also in a new neighborhood and they just laid all new fibre throughout the area and he has one of their hubs in his backyard. Regarding their customer service, it's hit and miss just like all customer service is with ALL companies now in the US. Typically it's not very good at all. My son took off work last Friday since AT&T was scheduled to do an upgrade and they needed to be inside his house. They never showed up! He called and complained and they came out on Saturday instead, apologized right and left and gave him a free wireless router as a result and some money off his bill.

So essentially, they all will suck regarding customer service occasionally!

I'd love to lose Cox, but for some reason AT&T tells me we can't get uverse at our house. I find this strange because I have neighbors around that actually have it. Ours was one of the first neighborhoods in town to get it. I keep checking with them, and I keep hearing the same thing.

I have the same problem. I want to drop Cox like a bad habit but AT&T says they don't have service in my neighborhood. I find that hard to believe since I live in the heart of Tulsa. My Cox bill is $180 for phone, internet and cable. I have ZERO need for a home phone, I only use my cell but Cox tells me it is cheeper to bundle the phone with the cable and internet. says it would be more expensive not to have phone. So in reality I'm paying $189 for cable and internet. Cox has some of the worst customer service and seems expensive.

I've had both Cox and ATT Uverse for internet, and I'm much happier with Cox. We only had access to the lowest speed Uverse though, so that may have had an impact on my experience. It was constantly going down...like on a daily basis. And it was so slow. My job relied on the internet, so I had to drop ATT and pay nearly $100 a month for Suddenlink because Cox wasn't available. Now I'm back in a town with Cox, and I'm happy. It's been reliable and fast with predicitable billing. We are paying $40 a month. Good enough for me.

I also generally just expect all customer service experiences to suck, but I don't have to talk to Cox because my internet isn't down every day. So yeah. That's a good customer service experience for me.

As far as phone and cable tv, I don't know. I think it's crazy to pay for that stuff these days. Use a prepaid cell, skype, google voice or vonage. And netflix. Put the rest of that money in yo' retirement fund!

I would recommend Cox for internet; however, U-Verse wins hands down when it comes to TV! Cox doesn't even begin to compare when it comes to TV and if I had to choose just one I would definitely choose U-Verse TV/Internet.

My solution was AT&T for phone and internet and Dish for TV. .

If you are inquiring about internet service, you can call AT&T and the customer service rep will ask you for your zip code and/or address and the rep can look it up on the computer and tell you right then how strong the signal is in your area and can tell you what the broadband speed is and then you can decide whether you want to go with them or not.

When I livled in OK I had ATT, I never had problems with them, but I did have to have a land line because the DSL came through it. It was an extra 10.00/month, and since I didn't use it, I unplugged it. Now I'm in a different state and the area of the city where I live is restricted to Cox. I darned well resent the hell out of paying over 70.00/month, and having them constantly calling to let me know how much I could save if I bundled phone and TV with it. I don't watch TV, and I have a cell phone and Skype. Small plan for the cell, and it costs me 2.97/month to call anyone with Skype, cell or land line. If I only wanted to talk to people with email addresses who also have Skype, it would be free.
