I moved there in 1958 to stay with my in-laws while my then husband was in Japan. I graduated high school in 1959 from Shawnee High School. Ceremony was held in the Civic Auditorium. The Jrs that year worked real hard so we would have a beautiful ceremony. They must have begged Borrowed and stole every red rose within 20 miles of Shawnee to make (I think it was 24 rose Arches) for us to march under. It was beautiful. If there are any of you out there , Thanks for the effort you put out for all of us graduating that year. I understand they built another high school and the old high school is now a middle school. I had forgotten just how big it was until I saw it in 03.

I'm hoping some day I will get to move back to Shawnee.

I'm not from Shawnee but I think it is a neat town. I like the way the downtown area is still going strong, and the historic train depot. There is a good hamburger place there, Hamburger King. I hope you do get to move back to Shawnee, Choctaw 2.

Yes I ate at the Hamburger King when I was there in03 The burgers were real burgers toasted buns and all. Also got real chilli dogs at the Brown Derby. In my memory I think those two cafes were there when I lived there as a young woman. I was introduced to several people while there and even caught up with some of my Senior class mates... I love the friendliness of the people. Went to the library, visited my in-laws graves, out to twin lakes, Went to several peewee league baseball games of my friends grandchildren, In general I did a lot of driving around and enjoyed the heck out of the whole trip. Wasn't even scared when the 2 Tornadoes went throught the OKC area while I was there.
