My father and I would love a chance to come down south and hunt some hogs. We have family in the northeast area near Miami, but not alot of hogs if any up there that we've seen. We live near Topeka, Ks and would a chance to come hunt some. Any advice on public hunting lands or private land owners who would like them off their place? We arent after huge trophies, just some pork for the plate. You can let me know at rev.david_zimmerman@yahoo.com, just mention hogs in your email so i know its not spam (not the pork kind either!)

To get onto real pig hunting you probably need to live in an area with a feral pig problem and you probably need to have a personal connection with local landowners that have local pig problems and you need to be able to observe and pattern the pigs before you really get down to the fun stuff. Otherwise you are looking at hooking up with outfitters or paying pretty big money for a canned shoot. There's a lot of demand for pig hunts with the attention that feral hogs are getting nationally and people with pigs to kill have recognized that there is a market for it, so flying in or driving in for a one day hunt means a very high likelihood of an unsuccessful expedition on public land or paying for an outfitter to put you on pigs.

Default Getting started

I am thinking about getting started on hog hunting for myself and my youngest son. I think it would be a good way for he and I to bond and have something new to do. Can anyone tell me what I need to get started as far as permits or any other legal documents we may need. Also what would be a good hog rifle that is not to expensive.. Look forward to any answers you may give.
