Redbird, so sorry about your companion having going to the hospital. I really hope everything turns out OK. We always have room for one more at our house, and we are doing Thanksgiving on Friday this year.

Colleen, that reminds me of when we watched the St Patrick's day parade in NYC. We almost froze to death! I saw George Clooney shaking hands some of the thousands of cops and firemen. No balloons, but it was a great experience.

BelgianPea, sounds delicious. You forgot gravy though!

Thank you, Peg, that is very kind of you. Maybe if Don were healthy, we might have taken you up on it. We appreciate it. Don really misses the family gathering. I can tell. Me, I'm an old bachelor from way back. I LIKE being alone.

I have decided not to chance a long drive to SW Oklahoma for turkey. My grandma loves Uncle Don, she even gave him an Indian name which means "good friend".

We will have a gigantic bird, just for the two of us. I am going to make the basics, since my companion is ~old school~! from Nebraska.
I have been leaning towards non-traditional foods, but have to go with the flow...

20 lb turky
Broccoli and rice w/cheese
yams and marshmellows (like my mom used to make)
cranberries (ew)
green bean casserole (minor yuck-never could figure out why ppl like this)
asperagus (ho hum) w/some kind of sauce (eh)
pumpkin pie and apple pie
cornbread dressing and gravy and LOTS and LOTS of gravy yeeaaahh!!!
corn (I'm ndn, I HAVE to have corn)
homemade bread (we have a bread machine)

As you can see, nothing fancy. I am all about leftovers!!! GOD, I love turkey sammiches...

We had a "Semi"-wonderful Thanksgiving! I caught a nasty cold (thanks son! ) and spent Thanksgiving Day home alone while the hubby and boy went to the *big* Family get-together.

BUT! I recuperated enough to fix "our" supper on Friday. Ham, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Stuffing, Candied Yams, Corn, Fresh Baked Bread, Deviled Eggs and Stuffed Celery, and of course Pumpkin Pie and Cheesecake.

The boy left this morning... time for me to fall down and rest now.

I hear you. I had that nasty cold last week.

Your dinner sounds yummy. Today we will have leftover turkey, gravy, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cranberry salad, and various olives and crackers.

There's NEW Charlie Brown specials????
I (and my kids) used to love those way back when.

We got rid of the TV (With the exception of DVDs and videos of our choosing) 4 years ago....
(Even the kids don't want it now...)

Please tell me that CB hasn't become politically correct.
(Or worse...)

M.

They were cute back then. Got rid of your TV? Yipes! Of course, I could spent the money on cable for other things, but hey, I just taped 10 Andy Hardy movies last week. I am now taping Christmas movies. Today I am going to buy some more DVDs. I have had my VHS/DVD player/recorder for a year, and it has taken me this long to figure out how to record off the TV. You just push record. Now how to figure out how to turn a VHS tape into a DVD. I just haven't tried. When I saw that Andy Hardy was coming on I decided to try the record button.

I liked the Charlie Brown movies. So sad that they have changed.
