You are learning that you moved to the Bible Belt from the liberal north. We are a far cry from the yankee stronghold you moved from.

It always tickles me when people from places like NY or CA are shocked after moving here. What did you expect?

most people that consider themselves conservatives favor less government, more personal liberty, and strong adherance to the constitution, so that is why it is weird for most people to see so called "conservatives" in favor of certain religious icons on public land while banning others. That is more like tyranny.

That's not conservative...that's libertarian...but libertarians also favor legal drugs, a weakened military and a socially liberal society.

That won't work in Oklahoma.

I think politics is changing a lot- if what you say is correct then neither liberals or conservatives care about the US constitution. One of the oaths made when you enter office (or in the military like myself) is that you will support and defend the constitution. It doesn't say to support and defend the bible, the koran or the communist manifesto for example. I guess that's the real problem in politics now is that the politicians all have personal agendas.

That's pitiful when hard core Christianity means picking and choosing certain verses in the Old Testament to use in harshly judging others, while ignoring the wisdom found behind New Testament verses, such as "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?"

Lying, stealing and drug dealing is a sign of how strong your faith is??

You just rested tks7's case. It IS about politics rather than religion.

Incidentally, as Christians (self-proclaimed and otherwise) around here are so proud of this fact, let me share something with you. I have lived in many places around the world. I have NEVER encountered as many people as I have here in the bible belt who go to church twice a week but are stealing, lying, drug dealing crooks who sit in judgement of others.

That is all.
So you know more about whether a person is a Christian than does the actual person doing the proclaiming? Talk about sitting in judgment!!!

That's a good one!

BTW, you need to change hangouts. I don't know a single stealing, drug dealing Christian. Lying, I don't know. I can usually tell, but I don't worry about it since it doesn't affect me.

Change locations, leave home, do whatever you need to do to rid yourself of such bad influences.

As far as the monuments, put all of them up and call it an amusement park. Charge admission. Pay down the debt. Works for me.!
