In kindreds throughout the world , Ásatrú groups gather regularly to practice a rapidly growing religion that was practiced on a large scale in Europe before the coming of Christianity.

It's Ásatrú, which means " belief in the gods " in Old Norse, the language of ancient Scandanavia.

Ásatrú is thousands of years old. It's beginnings are lost in prehistory, but as an organized system, it is older by far than Christianity. Strictly speaking, since Ásatrú is the religion which springs from the specific spiritual beliefs of the Northern Europeans, it is as old as this branch of the human race, which came into being 40,000 years ago.

This is the Spring Equinox. The end of Winter and the beginning of the season of rebirth. Today we honor Frigga, Freya and Nerthus with blot and feast. Pour a libation of mead onto the Earth; celebrate the rebirth of nature, Asatru, and the new hopes of our Folk.

Awesome moon shot, LR. I knew you would pull through. Hmmm, I wonder what our resident rumpologist GP can "divine" from our moon shots?

And now at 9PM PDT we have that awesomeness here in Washington. Just as beautiful.

Hey, did you get to see that lunar eclipse about a month ago? It was fully visible here. One of our neighbors was coming back from Seattle on the ferry and said the ferry passengers didn't want to get off when they landed. Just wanted to sit there and watch the eclipse.

No, I don't remember watching too much of the eclipse. I probably tried, but I think it must've been cloudy that day.
