even mary failing has come out in favor of medical marijuana now. Even she knows which way the wind is blowing. The tides are turning. its only a matter of time before gay marriage and weed (even recreational) is legal in oklahoma. may as well get ready for it. LOL probably won't be soon but I'd say within 10 years on weed and maybe less than 2 on gay marriage. This makes me smile.

you'd think the conservatives in this thread would be for "less government in our lives", as they always say, but apparently that just means stuff like helping poor people afford to eat, thats too much government, or trying to reduce pollution.

Now when it comes to telling people who they can sleep with or what they can put in their bodies, well apparently, they love big government. same for military spending. can't have enough of that. but we're too broke to spend more on healthcare.

If things continue to go well with Colorado and Washington's marijuana legalization, I hope the same thing could happen within 5 years in Oklahoma. It's possible that successful marijuana business interests from Colorado will be wanting to set up shop in Oklahoma and so will donate to future petition drives. There is still one Oklahoma petition drive going on now to vote on legalizing both rec and medical marijuana, along with legal industrial hemp growing. Its page is at: Oklahoma State Question 773 - Legalize But, unfortunately, it's even more loosely organized and poorly funded than the failed petition from Oklahomans For Health.

Surely most Oklahomans opposed to legalizing marijuana were also against legalizing casinos in the state. But after about a decade of having them, I bet no one would deny allowing casinos have been quite good for creating thousands of jobs for Oklahomans and providing much more entertainment.

Wrong. She has expressed approval for an oil that has no intoxicating effects whatsoever. She is against medical marijuana.

It won't happen. If you could afford to move, you could go to place where it is legal.

just googled it, Johnspecial. I stand corrected. sort of. Mary at least is yielding slightly from the total ban of anything related to cannabis.

now that said, the trend is in favor of freedom. tell me why should alcohol be legal,, and cigarettes but not weed? for the record , I'm not a smoker. I tried it and didn't like it. I don't like being drunk either.

but I am more conservative than you in this respect at least. get the government out of peoples lives. LOL

And surely plenty of conservative Oklahoma people you know said during the 1990s that lotteries, casinos and tattoo application would never become legalized in Oklahoma or would require at least several more decades before it would happen. Oklahoma was just too much of a Bible believing, Christian right state for those things to come about legalized.

And older conservative people you may know were surely saying throughout the 1950s that alcohol would never be legalized in Oklahoma for the foreseeable future.

If I need to take a break from the oppressive government policies of Oklahoma based on nothing but nonsense, I'll take a vacation to Denver. Laws against marijuana are definitely without a doubt largely based upon outdated, outrageous racist bigotry and not upon the foundation of sound scientific research.

“There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others.”

“…the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races.”

“Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men.”

If it is so wrong and immoral to sell drugs that may produce intoxicating effects, why are they legally sold? Marinol is one such drug.

Chantix comes with the possible side effect of making you feel like killing yourself. Why are we as a society so brave and tolerant enough to allow such drugs to be sold? But no so for marijuana? It's amazing how we as a society feel so safe to allow drugs to be sold that come with numerous possible unpleasant side effects that take up most of a TV commercial to warn of them all. But odd how much of society still feels that marijuana is so incredibly dangerous that it must continue to be banned. Since when did overdosing on marijuana result in a death, like what all too frequently happens with legal RX pain pills? Much of the problem is that there are just too many cripple headed people in high level places in government, who believe in continuing the war on drugs makes legitimate sense. It certainly doesn't.

They're not real conservatives. Instead, they are far religious right nanny state authoritarians. They too often strongly believe in governing from the bible, while picking and choosing what verses to follow, rather than from the U. S. Constitution.
