A new report from CNBC lists Oklahoma as the second worst state to live in.

The list, which ranks the 10 worst states to live in, is based on several factors including crime rate, local attractions, health care and the environment.

According to CNBC, Oklahoma ranks among the worst states in the nation for crime, health and air quality. No. 1 on the list was Tennessee.

Garbage list.

Illinois has a far worse crime, air and water record than we do and yet it didn't make the bottom 10. The majority of Indiana's and Ohio's environmental and crime problems are in isolated areas on the Great Lakes. Outside of those areas, those states are pretty decent.

While I'm admittedly not a fan of Oklahoma, the most skepticism I have is that this is similar to those Forbes lists in that it's something to get you to read the article, and it appears to have worked. Digging a little deeper I found this:
America's Top States for Business 2014: Our methodology

But that still doesn't list every factor they're using in quality of life, as they just say "including". Furthermore, I'm not sure how much research they put into the categories of the greater table found here, where Oklahoma ranks 28 overall:
America's Top States For Business

There are so many nuances, regulations, exceptions, etc. that it could be hard to get it perfectly accurate. On that second table, I would disagree with Oklahoma's ranking in cost of living, though it has that reputation. My eating habits haven't changed though my grocery bill is much higher here than it was before I moved. Gas is cheaper here too, but I found I have to dedicate more of my budget to it than I did before moving. I feel like I had more disposable income in a more expensive city with a lower income than I have here.

You guys should put a sign proclaiming such at the border.

It'll surely keep the riff raff out.

Life is how you make it. Not how Oklahoma makes it. More people in Oklahoma need to get motivated somehow to clean up their lifestyle and pursue better health habits.

Meanwhile, you can help make the lives of some very sick Oklahomans better by signing the petition to legalize medical marijuana for Oklahoma. Time is starting to run out to do that. More at Oklahoma Compassionate Care Campaign

Hopefully, such false assessments at least have the potential for keeping the negative and wishy-washy transplants out. They're welcome to hit up Texas or Arkansas or even better venture into the Deep South. Oklahoma is off limits.

Huh I didn't think it was the worst state when I lived there. How crazy is that? Guess the people that took that consensus never seen how it really is.
