Regularly, I receive dire warnings that I need to buy insurance in case the lines leading to my house have to be replaced or have major work performed. I've always just ignored the notices, but sometimes wonder if I should buy the insurance. I don't recall getting similar with other houses where I've lived. Do you also get such notices?

I've not gotten any, but I work in insurance! I have many customers who have called and asked about this letter. Our recommendation is to buy it! Your normal home insurance wont cover the cost of replacing the line if it fails due to age, wear or earth movement.
