I didn't know they played in Shawnee. Was it at the Firelake Grand casino? I would like to have seen them.

Morgan Freetheweed, I mean Morgan Freeman is the man! He's even cooler than Howest! And that is not easy to accomplish.

Class of 1965 Durant high school! She is a talented lady, plays a ton of piano and arranged music for this old school show for decades. I can let you know where the road named for her is in durant! A lot of musical talent out of durant! Juilliard grad French horn for the American brass quintet as well as both OU band directors....

Reba wasn't a durant raised girl but attended SEOSU or the SE Oklahoma savages as they were known then.

Tokes weren't in Gail's vocabulary when I knew her though.

If you are not old enough to remember the Lawrence Welk show -- it was a family show that played music from the 40s, 50s, 60s, plus symphony, Broadway, orchestra, band, piano and even organ pieces. He played an accordion and occasionally danced with the girl who performed as a professional dancer with 'Bobby' her partner. Bobby was the male dancer who was a fixture for many years. Arthur Duncan was the tap dancer who appeared frequently. There was a professionally trained opera singer with blond hair who was called the Champaign Lady ... . There was also a ragtime piano player, male quartet and Western duet.

Every member of his cast was just as squeaky clean, and upright in real life as he was. Those who weren't did not come back to work. Welk and Champaign music was on TV every weekend for years. And like Ed Sullivan, we experienced an new musical journey with a great cast of characters every week. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Welk
