Last night while playing bridge online with a fellow in France, he asked where I was from? When I told him, he wanted to know if it was in the mid-west? No, it's southwest. He said he was in the mountains not far from Geneva Switzerland. He'd not heard of Oklahoma. This reminded me of another incident about this fine state.

Which is the reason for the thread title. Several years ago while traveling I was in Exeter, England at a beauty salon getting a perm. When I told the young woman where I was from, she stepped back exclaiming, "Is there really an Oklahoma?" Yes, there really is. "I thought it was just the name of a musical! she said." Others in the room agreed with her and some said they knew it existed. So at least in that one place, Oklahoma came up in the world!

I used to know a person that llved near Switzerland too. He challenged everything I said about OKlahoma. He was in the US one time and knew everything there is to know about America. I finally drifted away.

Do you play Duplicate on line?

The site has a room for duplicate and a room for what they call relaxed bridge. I play duplicate here at home twice a week, but online I play in the relaxed room, which is more like duplicate than party bridge. Some players are good, some aren't. They rank themselves. I'm intermediate. Some players are very rude, but most aren't. Recently a player from Madagascar was acting a fool and the host booted him from the table, which was good.
