In an effort to circumvent current balanced budget laws in Oklahoma, certain entities, governors, and legislators, have turned their focus to the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority for the building of new roads in our state. OTA is unique in it's ability to sell bonds to fund projects. The Turnpike Authority was originally meant to be a self funding and self terminating agency. Somehow this unregulated agency has built an empire lasting over 65 years during which time not a single toll road has ceased taking tolls. We ask you read further to see if future projects will affect your family or loved ones.

I seldom use the turnpikes. From Stillwater, it's no quicker to take the Cimarron Turnpike to Tulsa than using Highway 51. One just has to be observant of the speed limits when going through Yale and Mannford. https://www.google.com/search?q=Tuls...utf-8&oe=utf-8

I also rarely use them myself.

There's a big fight between landowners and the OTA over the Eastern OK county leg of the OKC turnpike loop. Frankly with the two North/South highways that are already in place that leg of the loop isn't necessary. Building that leg of the loop was one of the perks that Fallin threw in to woo Boeing, claiming that it would allow Boeing workers to get to work a couple of minutes faster.

There are ways to avoid the turnpikes. Not always convenient but sometimes it's a matter of principle.

I think Oklahoma actually has more turnpikes than any other state.

Oklahoma does not need any more roads. That money would be better spent on fixing the ones we have.
