What you will be looking for are trees/bushes that are in a row, something like a hedgerow. They will have a lot of stickers on the branches and the balls are a lite green and look like brains. Now I don't know about Oklahoma, but here in Ohio you'll only find the Osages oranges in the late fall. Oh, and wear gloves that you don't want anymore, the oranges are really sticky, like gummy.

Oh...

Then those aren't grass spiders you see...

They're most likely wood spiders or linoleum spiders.

Oh, then they are wood spiders in the bedrooms and living rooms and lineleum spiders in the kitchen and bath. LOL.

So Osage Balls look like brains. I will ask around. If I throw several in the attic will they leave, or do they just not cross over an Osage Ball?

I've always wondered about that pronunciation. I've said boy'-dee-ark' for years. I never knew it could just be two syllables. Now, y'all's case might be a little different, but I always thought it was what I mentioned. Interesting.

No! No! No! Ya don't want to through any Osage oranges up in the attic, jessaka. Remember they are a natural product and they will rot leaving a mess. You'll want to place them on the ground around the foundation, openings to crawl spaces and doors of your home. Plus there is a small nat that lives in them and will be all over the place when they hatch, and you don't want them in your home either. Beleive me, bjb123 and I found out the hard way about the nats.

Spiders just won't go around or near them, so place them around the home .

They itch really bad and if you don't leave the spots alone, you can itch a pretty good sore on you. Fortunately, I've found that rubbing alcohol, takes the itch almost completely away. It stings a bit, but is effective
growen up west of tulsa in the sticks, we had it all, our enterainment was sunset driven down the road and counting how many trantulas, gater turtles, snakes and scorpians crossen the roads....lol(no lie!!) as far as chiggers and similar insect bites go, mama always used either rubben alcohol, absorbine jr(works real good on all bug bites!!) or calomine lotion(hated the leftover pink skin...lol) now days, ya can do these, or spend money on itch relief meds, but i stick to oldies)alot cheaper) as well as goldbond powders or lotions, works good to. and of course, any hunter will tell ya, smell good...get bite..smell not so good...get bit not so much...so as much as it might suck, if going to be out in woods most of day, use unscented everything..mainly deodarant, no cologne, hairspray, etc...be a plain jane(or john...lol) and you will suffer less, even rinse clothes you will wear thru with plain water to get rid of soap smell, and follow others here advice about type of clothes to wear. you will still get bit maybe, but not eaten alive, like we say down here, only fat thing in OK is the bugs, eaten off the city slickers....lol(kidding)

This entire thread is grossing me out. But I can attest to the usefulness of Osage Orange, chickens and guinneas.
