In another thread you mention LeFlore County and Lake Kerr. I grew up in Madill and your mention of Lake Kerr brings up an old memory from my childhood when my mother was running around the house all nervous because some VIPs were about to arrive. My dad was to take them fishing on Lake Texoma. I remember the very tall man and very short man standing in our living room. It was Senator Robert S. Kerr and Speaker of the House Carl Albert. I don't know if mother ever recovered. LOL

One of my dad's sisters lived in Poteau and when we were en route to Arkansas we would drive through Poteau. My parents were both from the boonies of Arkansas. If I've already mentioned any of this in past years... I hope not!

My dad may also have been taking them to someone's farm pond known to be good fishing.

Good stuff, Rubi.

Your daddy sounds like someone I would have been friends with. My motto is you can never have enough fishing buddies, unless they can outfish you!

Sounds like we've been in many of the same circles. I lived in Southern Oklahoma for a long time and used to go over to Madill often. The one great thing about Texoma is BG's Catfish in Kingston! You ever eaten there? Some of the best fried fish you can get in these parts, but it's getting high as a cat's back. Still worth it every now and then though.

That's a great story about Carl Albert and Robert Kerr. I never got to meet them personally, but I've always heard good things. Probably better politicians than the folks who are in our state government right now, more in touch with the common/Redneck folks like my kin because that's where they were from.

Great to hear you have folks from LeFlore County. I've spent a lot of time there; the people and area are great! I like being out in the sticks. When my wife has to get back to town to get her city fix, we go over to Fort Smith.
