Get ready for land run 2008 edition! It's a bit different this time, since we're coming from west to east. I imagine there's going to be land runs every year to Oklahoma and other states as well.

Just don't let the newcomers put up homes that cost more than the homes that are already there. They will drive the property taxes off the chart, like they are doing up in Montana. In Montana people from California would build 1 & 2 million dollar homes and the local end up pay more on thier property taxes because of it. Talking to folks on the Montana forum we found that they refered to them as "tansplants" , and they don't like them either.

Most of the persnicketty ones won't tolerate our h3llish weather. Its just too hot and humid for the refined ones. The ones that will stay are the ones who are tough enough to handle the bleak horizons, weather, and the bugs.

We have quite a few recent transplants around here already. What's funny is when they start complining, "No one told me about the ice storms!" or some other okie fact of life.

I've looked in on the Montana forums and that will scare you about Californians! Unfortunately Montana has the mountains with skiing etc. I think that and the image Montana has attracted the people with a movie star mentality.

My Brother (who lives in California) builded a house in Montana (Yellowstone) spent $200.000 out of pocket and no mortgage. He is so liked there, they want him to be the Mayor for Montana.

Wow, Montana's system of government is much different than the rest of the country. I've never know there to be a Mayor of a state...

LEAVE CALIFORNIANS ALONE, THEY'RE HUMAN BEINGS!

Ok ok, back to reality...
I heard that there's tons of active earthquake faults in the Southeastern USA, so this really doesn't surprise me one bit.
Plus I heard there used to be lots of volcanoes in southern OK, so yeah.
