I don't think the teacher's intent came across very well with the words he chose to use.

I don't think it's unfair to say that most everyone feels more comfortable around people that are similar to themselves. Sometimes this has to do with skin color, sometimes lifestyles or belief systems etc. and no one is immune.

For me, I'd rather hang with some young black hip hopper than some septigenarian church lady. But the hip hop guy might be uncomfortable being around a 50 something old white dude.

The school never banned the US flag from football games. We already found out what happened in that particular instance.

Having served a sentence at UCO in the mid 1990s that teacher doesn't surprise me. White guilt was preached & 'teached' to the point of nausea. It was all the rage on Oklahoma campuses in the '90s. Now it's bearing fruit.
