I was needing to know if I was a couple of years behind on my house taxes and went in to pay one of them years, can they refuse to take my payment. I know the city wants to sell my home to make more money off of it.

Its the county that will sell your house not the city. I have a friend of mine who always said no one really owns their home. Stop paying your property taxes and you will find that out.

The county has to follow the laws on the books. You are getting close to the time when Oklahoma has its yearly tax auction. All counties do it the same day.

Counties in Oklahoma auction properties behind in their taxes in June. But they start putting the list together now. I suggest you contact your county and find out if yours will be auctioned this year. They will notify you and in some counties they put a notice on your lawn stating it will be sold at auction. Once it gets to that point you will have to pay all the back taxes in full. I believe even after the auction you can redeem the house it but it get really expensive and once the new owners get a quiet title on the property it is theirs and you can't get it back. From what I remember it goes to auction after 3 years of non payments.

But again talk to your county to find out your situation. They have to follow the rules and procedures set forth in Oklahoma whether or not you think they want your house.
