What did you pay on your last PSO electric bill?

What do expect to pay this month if your power consumption is 700-800 KWh? I try to keep it under 800 KWh per month as this is considered the bottom tier lever for some states out West. Out there, they jack up the rates for going to higher tiers.

Last month, I paid over $35 for just 8 days/162 KWH of power consumption.$27.something was for a "service charge". The fuel consumption for the 162 KWh of electricity was only under $6.00.
About a measly 3.7 cents for fuel per KWh.

My last bill was on the 15th of may and I moved in on the 7th of May last month in a 1-BR apartment. I'm suing the a/c as little as possible and I use my 980 watt bedroom portable air conditioner most of the time. The bigger Motel-6 a/c unit in the living room is rated at 1,850 watts and I seldom turn it on.

I have LED bulbs in my unit. This unit has an electric hot water heater built in and it's on my meter no doubt.

My next bill will be on the day after tomorrow and I dread looking at it. I use my digital camera to take pictures of my electric meter readings. My calculations project that I will have used 735 KWh for this coming billing cycle on the 15th of this month. I use just a little over 1 KWh per hour on average.

I don't work and stay home all day long. The portable a/c in my room runs 75-90% of the time. I have to hand wash my dishes as there is no dishwasher. I have to George Foreman my meats since I can't use my propane Weber grill here.

The stupid electric water heater is no doubt taking a big hit on my meter. I take showers about once every three days because that electric water heater in my apartment scares me.

I'm thinking about getting a good 50-quart dehumidifier for my room as that might help the portable ONE-hose a/c use less power. The humidity can get 65-85% in my bedroom even with the a/c.

$91.14 for only 733 lousy KWH!!!!

That's 12.43 cents per KWH for 5/15/19 through 6/14/19.

They have not yet broken down the fuel charges, taxes/fees and the service charges
for my current bill.

Did they jack the SERVICE CHARGE way up, the fuel charges or both?


Last bill was $35.30 for only 162 KWH for 5/8/19 through 5/15/19.

It was broken down:

$27.19 for service charge
$5.93 for cost of fuel for power
$2.18 for taxes and fees

My air-conditioned two-br apartment in Boise, Idaho rarely saw an electric bill over $50.00!!
I used my single-hose a/c unit in my bedroom most of the time during summer.

No wonder Lawton apartment rents are so cheap without the landlord's including the electricity.
Oklahoma apparently is not cheap for power.

I think I seriously will need to invest in a TWO-HOSE portable a/c unit for my bedroom with a dehumidifier built in.
That one-hose unit may be making the meter run like the devil.

OK, I just received the breakdown on my latest electric bill:


ELECTRIC SERVICE: $58.67

COST OF FUEL FOR POWER: $26.83

TAXES and FEES: $5.64

TOTAL BILL: $91.14

We Oklahomans are getting hit hard on "SERVICE FEES" not actual "energy resources consumed".

My fuel cost per KWH is still only 3.67 cents per KWH!!!!!

My ELECTRIC SERVICE was only $27.19 when only 162 KWH were consumed still at only 3.67 cents/KWH for the fuel.


A consumption increase of 571 pissy little KWH's has caused my SERVICE fee to more than double.


How is this so?

How is burning that much more fuel causing the cost of maintaining transformers, generators and wires to skyrocket?

The electric company is screwing us, not the fuel providers to the power company.

There's some fat cat corporate CEO at PSO with a private jumbo jet for sure!!

3.67 cents for diesel fuel to run a 1,000-watt room air conditioner for one whole hour straight is dirt cheap

I am moving to Altus AFB in October and I was thinking about renting an apartment at either Altus or Lawton but OMG! The electric is worse than I thought it would be! In Kansas City I have a 2 bedroom, 900 sq ft apartment and NEVER have a bill for over $90.00 and I leave things on all the time!

Did you try moving into government owned housing for the disabled and only found a long waiting list to get in?
