I was an Okie for 60 years, so I have a lot of experience with that heat. Hey, that's why (somebody) invented air conditioning! Other ways of coping are sweat bands, shorts, water in various forms, shade trees, fans and very cold beer.

I'm sitting here a few miles northwest of Seattle, looking forward to our trip to OKC next week, where it will be in the 80's. We've had a long, dreary, damp winter and right now, on the 20th of April, it's snowing. Bring on the heat!!

I guess that depends on your perception of "Hot". For me anything less than triple digits is just warm. We have a 1500+ sq ft home that is cooled by a single window AC unit and we stay quite comfortable.

We have ceiling fans, lightweight clothing and ice cold beverages. Honestly it is the wind here that makes the heat MUCH more tolerable... there is almost ALWAYS a breeze blowing to keep things cool. I haven't even unwrapped the AC unit this year!!

And the weather next week should be yummy!! Here is the 7 day forecast for our area... notice the 10-20 mph winds every day!

Right now I have the doors and windows open to let in the breeze and it is a comfy 71F in our den.

I do my activities outside early in the morning in the summer. Drink lots of water and stay in the shade as much as possible if you have to work outside in the heat. If you work outside a lot and get used to the heat gradually, it is easier to take. Wear a hat to keep the sun off your head, and protect your skin with sunscreen.

I work outside all day. I don't really mind the heat that much, pretty much used to it. The humidity is what I have a hard time dealing with. Ca had 100+ days but around 10% here its 90%. I drink lots of Gatorade and get in the shade whenever I can. I also will spend some time in the truck with the a/c on, just to lower my temp.

I'm not an Okie, but I love hot weather. If you like going to a pool or spray park or a lake, hot summer days are very enjoyable.

Robyn, I can't wait until our weather chart looks like yours.

Isn't it great!! I'm from SoCal, so I love the summers here. Not a fan at all of the winters.

The 7 day forecast put a big smile on my face.

We planted tomatoes and peppers today. Looks like no more cold for us for a while.
