I grew up there but it was less than half its current size back then. With the casino business the city now has many good restaurants and nice motels in addition to the huge casinos ones. I do not recall a catfish place other than one out near the Lake, west of town called willow springs motel and catfish bay or something like that.

I know a lot of trucking operate their business out of OKlahoma, always assumed it was because of some tax angle like low taxes on trucking assets or low op cost or tag cost or all the above.

Growing up in Durant our city needs were fulfilled by DFW rather than OKC or Tulsa so I know less of those two than DFW history. I spent four years at OSU in Stillwater getting a Chem Engineering degree which got ma job in Houston where I lived most of my adult life. So wife, who grew up in Durant and graduated from OSU too in microbiology have lived in Texas now 41 years but family in Durant and Norman draw us back often. I am less than 85 miles from my mom's house which was art of the reason we moved here in retirement
