This is very true, but I can understand the fascination with tornadoes as well. I've seen a couple of shows about chasers where tornadoes they were chasing destroyed towns. In each show, the chasers suddenly looked very sobered as they got a look around the town that had been slammed. In each case they talked about how this served as a reminder to them of how destructive tornadoes could be, and reminded them to stop and think beyond their interest in studying tornadoes.

It's the same thing with the last few posts on here. It's good to keep in mind the destruction that natural disasters can cause, but there is something fascinating about a powerful force like a tornado. As bad as it can be for the individuals affected when natural forces strike populated areas, maybe in a broad kind of way there's something positive about this reminder to us human beings that nature is large and awesome, and we are part of nature, but don't rule it.

Storm chasing is for someone with the heart and temperament of an Army Ranger/Navy Seal, but who couldn't pass the military physical.

Cute one there TedF,

Can you pass the mentally challenged course?

How do you keep a _____ busy all day? Put him/her in a round room and tell him/her to sit in the corner.

They have storm chaser tour groups you know. Its a thousand bucks or so.. but it might be fun, especially if they let you ride in the tornado-mobile.

Checked out the wed site, nice sound effects.
Since I only have $25.00 to spend would that only get me a sighting of a "Dust Devil" .
And my other question is, "Do they supply you with a package of DEPENDS for when one soils them selves?"

Oookay , well anyways Redbird, have you ever thought about going on a "Storm Chaser Tour"? Or, are you one of those folks that look at city people from back east and think to your self "city people" shaking your head and walking away.

We get a few of them here where I live, we're like a mini tornado ally. My brother had his three story barn pulled up and put on the RR tracks next to his house. Needless to say he told the RR company that possession was 99% of the law so they could have it. That left him with very little to clean up, not to mention the cleaning up he did with insurance claim. the only thing that was left was the dog house that was turned upside down on the rubble of the barn foundation and the dog standing on it, tail wagging and barking.

Sounds like you're set to go!

By the way ... when you start leading storm-chasing tours, can I get a discount?
