I was relieved to read that most people do not have a problem with them - and yes, I think extermination would be the way to go, especially if it keeps them from moving back in for a while

I'm hoping to move out there sometime in late summer and haven't really chosen an exact spot except the Tahlequah area. I think it will depend on what kind of rental I can find as I'm not too picky about the exact spot. I'm really looking forward to it - everything everyone has said about the area just makes me so enthusiastic!!

On the subject of the brown recluse, I'll bet this has already been mentioned by someone else but, one of the things we recommend (& we have them up here in Ohio too) is to keep your wood piles away from your house. I guess they love wood piles. We have a friend who got bit by a brown recluse last summer while he was at a Labor Day party. He was sitting by a fire pit with his foot propped up on the wood laying next to the pit. He didn't realize at first what the bite on his leg was. He had one heck of a time healing from the wound but is OK now.

Good luck to you moonmaiden, me & Seabeebolt are planning a trip to OK this mid-April to have a look around. We want to check out Tahlequah too. We have a small business to deal with along with a house so we won't be able to move right away. Personally, I'm ready to grab some boxes & start packing!

Does anyone know if Federal Employee's retirement benefits (annuities) are taxed in Oklahoma? Just in case my Dad wants to move near me once we relocate. He is not taxed on his retirement in N.C. I had a hard time finding an answer on the internet anywhere.
