CD was making some changes on this forum.

Where's CG when you really need him?

PS. Also, have you defragmented your hard drive lately?

Well, unless you are running some kind of Internet provider from outer space, you do not have 2.5 gig of bandwidth (actually bandwidth is an improper term).

What I meant by bandwidth was what is your download/upload speeds. For instance, I have a high speed (broadband) connection with Charter cable here in Fort Worth that cost me 40 dollars a month and it is 5 meg.. 10 meg is even more uncommon (and costly).

If you're on dialup then your download speed will be something like 56K, or approximately 1/100th the speed of mine. Many times dialup (when looking at graphics) will cause your computer to freeze up, especially with the minimal 256 meg of RAM that you are running.

Dude, take it from me.

I went from 256 MB RAM to having two sticks of 512 MB of RAM each (that equals 1 Gig RAM). My computer jumped up and RAN through ALL the CDF photo threads like a hot knife thru butter. I forgot to mention I got off DIAL UP AOL and went to plainsnet, which is neither satellite, nor DSL. Went from 56KB/sec to 712 KB/sec.

Don't even click on a CDF pics page until you upgrade. I am sure both CG and Synner have tons of RAM lying around the house and don't believe them if they say they don't!!!! Every techie does.

I have Mozilla. It is lightning fast.

I don't know how many times Is said that I don't have dial up. I had to dump Fox Fire, I think the problem with that is I'm upgraded to sp3 and it only supports sp2.

I seriously doubt that it's not my computer when the problem is at 2 Threads on CD. and nothing else, no other threads on CD and any other forum that I go to, and believe me, I'm register to alot of forums.
Mybe I should just stay away from CD for awhile.......

Did you reboot since the last time you were on? Firefox takes less RAM to operate than IE, and if you didn't restart after you installed Firefox, that could be reason; IE was still taking up a chunk of your RAM.

Redbird, I'll send you a few sticks of RAM I have laying around in my toolbox..

It didn't say that I needed to, but I did any way.

More than likely, it is/was your RAM.

Like I said, Firefox takes less RAM to run than IE, and when you rebooted, your cache was cleared out and since you're not running IE you have more RAM left, which means a faster computer.

I'd still suggest you buy a 1GIG stick of RAM. It will be like you bought a new computer; that's the difference that it will make.

So when did you say that you are going to get off of dial-up?

I had dial up when I had a Gateway 1999-2001My first Computer. It was fine to me until I got cable. That's when I realized how slow dial up was. in comparison.
