If you have an allergy to bugs as I do, you WILL spray. You will spray for anything and everything that flies, crawls, or slithers.

Yea, a certain amount of spraying has to be done. They do it up here, too on occasion cause we've had years with extremely high West Nile Virus rates. I think we were Number ONE in that category a couple years ago. (So. Dak)

An allergy to bugs? You are "allegic" to bugs but not to chemicals? Amazing. If that was me I would bypass the country and stay in the city instead of messing with the natural balance of things ...........

I have a beautiful piece of property on Cape Cod in an area which was pretty much ruined by chemical spaying by those moving in from other areas. Shame .....

We have only put down chemicals one time. And that was in our dog pen after we decided it was a flea and tick resort that needed to be shut down for awhile. Our dogs only go in the pen when there is company or some type of work being done around the house. I can't stand to pen up our GSD. Its not necessary if you live out in the country.

Don is allergic to chiggers, so I can relate to your wanting to remove pesky critters. Can't play in the grass around here.

Our skeeter problem is constant, due to all the farm ponds in this area, but about all we can do for that is make sure there is no standing water.

Yeah, ol' GP has a toungue in cheek and sometimes two cheeks! DOH!

Have you BEEN on Cape Cod in the past 10 years?

The "imports" (and tourists) are making life miserable. They all want to move to the "country" but once there they want their new home to be exactly like their old one in the urban/suburban areas. Complete with strip malls. And the poor Cape Codder whose family has had small farms and were fishermen for generations are now told they can't raise their livestock on their agriculturally zone land anymore because it "bothers the neighbors".

There are very few real Cape Codders left .... they have mostly moved away.

I am hanging on to my property and am waiting for an opportunity to sell my property to the state so they can build a low-income housing development on it. Not only will bring me that a lot of money, but also some satisfaction. See if the neighbors like that better than my goats and chickens.

Actually, I've never been to Cape Cod. It's just always seemed to be a higher classed place then I would visit.
