Has anyone around Weleekta had a well drilled lately. I am trying to get a ball park figure on wells and septics.

I think $10k is reasonable for sewer and septic providing the land you want to buy will pass a perk test. Where you build is 100% dependent on the perk test. The cost of drilling a well is dependent upon how much rock you drill through to reach water. Even then there is no guarantee you can drink it. There are maps of the counties that can give you an idea how deep they drill on your property. I believe the county engineers should have this map.

I think a budget of 10k is fair. Call one of the local well drillers and see what they are asking....I can almost guarantee you anyone that has been in the area knows what kind of water is where, and what it takes to get it. I know where I live ( a long way from Weleetka) a septic is around $2500-$3500 with a well running between $5,000 and $8,000.....assuming you hit good water......

If you happen to have Native American blood, some tribes will do it for you for free, if you own the land and it will be your main source of water and septic. It is not based on income, only indian blood. We bought new property 4 years ago, just out of town. There was NO utilities at all on the property and where we're building is on top of a mountain. They came in, ran all our water lines, put in septic for us...all for free. They had a tough time of it too, having to go up that rocky hill. LoL Anyway, it was an estimated cost of around 10,000 but cost us nothing. So all we had to have ran was the electric and telephone. No natural gas lines running there so we have to use propane. But the tribe putting in our water and septic saved us a bundle!!

Our water well in Hughes County was $2K. Guess we got lucky. They didn't hit water the first time.

Thanks everyone, 10k is about what we have figured. Our land is outside of Weleetka on hughes county line, 1/4mi from Canadian river. The house 300ft from our property has a well, lets just hope we hit water the first time.

In Shawnee, I think Lowman's was the outfit. Local boys, because when they didn't hit water, they tried to charge us another $2K to drill again until Uncle Don got out there and raised cane with them. They drilled the second one deeper and hit water.

Hey my advice is when you have your septic put in have an arobic system installed, this way you can put the water on the ground, or even water a garden spot, its clean water and belniful to other purpose's cost is the same either way dont have to pay for a pert test, a driller should know if theres water or not, and even how deep, if hes experanced
