Gosh, I feel bad, I've talked garbage about Oklahoma for the five years I've been here and really thought that I hated Oklahoma, but I figured it out this evening. It's not Oklahoma that I dislike, it's Oklahoma City that I don't like. Oklahoma is actually a great place! Oklahoma has diverse landscapes, nice people, and is an outdoor lovers paradise. The problem I've had for the last five years is that when I found out I was moving to Oklahoma "City" I had certain expectations. Coming from Las Vegas, I had no idea bars actually closed, I had no idea people didn't walk around downtown from sunup to sundown, I really had no idea that most places close on Sunday. It was a culture shock if you will. Now that I'm no longer in the mentality that Oklahoma City was a huge city, I think I am really starting to like Oklahoma, it's unfortunate however that I only now realized this since I am leaving in December
There were certain things I expected from the city, and you didn't really have them here in Oklahoma City, so I was very dissapointed, but now I've come to terms with the fact that it is not a large city with all of the things that come with living in a large city and I'm fine with that and I feel stupid for not realizing it earlier!
I've been to three corners of this state (not the panhandle unfortunately) and there are some great and beautiful places and now that I think back I really enjoyed being here and travelling throughout the state, my mom a born and bred Las Vegan and my stepdad (from Virgina) bought a nice little cabin on Grand Lake and I really enjoy going there, beautiful area and they think so too obviously, and if you want to get real beer, the Missouri border isn't that far from their cabin.
I guess I've been thinking about this since I know I will be leaving soon, and I really want to say to you Oklahoman's, thank you so much for having me, it was an honor to serve my country and be stationed here where everyone is so friendly! I WILL miss being here! Thank you again.

It's funny the different concepts people have. OKC would be a fascinating city for me to visit, but it's probably too "city" for me.
Just kind of the opposite of the way it is for you.
You mentioned Grand Lake~that really is a beautiful area and you're fortunate to be able to vacation there.

They talked about Grand Lake this morning on the radio. Seems you can get a gated community lot with lake/boat access for 99K.
Don't ask me who the company is, I didn't pay attention. But that sounds like a pretty good deal. I mean, if I had a boat and money to build a house...
and a jet ski, and ... well, you get the picture.

I've lived on Grand for 10 years now and love it! $99K for a gated community lot with lake access maybe, certainly not lake view or lake front, huge difference. Most lake front lots would cost you a minimum of $100K just for the lot, and that would be a very small lot.

They said Lake Front lot, not view or access. And you don't have to build immediately. Don't know any details and it would probably be construed as advertising if I did.
I was pretty surprised by the price myself.

There were certain things I expected from the city, and you didn't really have them here in Oklahoma City, so I was very dissapointed, but now I've come to terms with the fact that it is not a large city with all of the things that come with living in a large city and I'm fine with that and I feel stupid for not realizing it earlier!
Just kind of the opposite of the way it is for you.
