What's even worse, is the sac n fox casino in Shawnee changed their policy, so that whatever tips the cashier makes, replaces their salary. In effect, the tips made for that day take the place of what the casino has to pay the employee!

That's against the law in NJ.

It's a joke that the Indians get away with what they do. I often wonder how all the millions is being spent that the casino's make.

Ironically, most of the casinos in Oklahoma are set up under contracts with casino staff from Nevada to run/manage them. In the beginning most tribes have no idea on how to run a casino. So, I think your anger is misplaced. Maybe you should be saying it is a joke what the WHITE MAN gets away with what they do. I believe it's called a business! To make money!

No one forces anyone to walk into a casino and gamble or work there. No one is forcing your wife to work there. Maybe your anger at the Indians is a result of your wife's not getting as much in tips as she used to?

The Seminole tribe had a contractor from Nevada who defied Oklahoma Gaming Commission and was ultimately arrested on warrants out of Nevada (unrelated to his Oklahoma ventures), and the tribe was levied a heavy fine due to his mismanagement.

For one whole year, the Seminole tribe never saw a penny from the casino. Even though the casino made money, the people of the tribe never received any monies from the casino. So, it's a business venture, and the tribes have to learn as they go.

Whichever shifts they give me.
That is your problem.

What you need is a Fri and Sat shift in a high priced steakhouse or something. Start working on that.

I don't know what experience you have as a server but a high class restaurant requires impeccable serving skills. Let me know if I can help.

That's the thing... this is my first serving job. I'm honestly not great at it yet, but I'm not bad and I'm doing what I can to get better. I do work most saturdays, especially now with people requesting them off for football games. But the games being on also generally means we're slow... unless it's a game like yesterdays. lol I made good money last night but made nothing tonight. Literally, after I paid for my food I had basically paid to go to work. It happens, I guess, but it still sucks.

I'm gonna be selling Avon starting pretty soon here so maybe I'll make a little bit of money with that and I'm also thinking about the possibility of getting a job working a few mornings a week somewhere, since I never have class before 1pm, but Outback is never open for lunch except Sundays.

Yep ... a busy breakfast place is good. Trouble is that Okies are notoriously bad tippers.

Let me know if I can help. We can set up a server training session in no time flat

Are you sure that you've gotten all the financial aid that's available? If you're on your own, did you get your pell grant? I'm guessing you've gotten your Stafford Loan. Is that correct? Also, some churches make a certain amount available yearly for their students who are members. It's not a fortune, but our church offers $500 for the year.

Working your way through college is not easy, but many people make their income waiting tables. Its a good life experience and there is a side benefit of...food. One less expense for you. Outback is a decent place and as you improve your service you will make more money, it just takes practice.

Hate to bash, but when I lived in Stillwater, I usually tipped 20%. Bartenders and waitresses always made a point to come over and say hello and be 'extra polite' to me. I think that was much more than many folks tip, especially in a college town.
