Hey Franklin! I think that the weather is very cold right now, spring is no where in sight It's too cold to hike and risk catching pneumonia. It will be better come spring time. You might want to start a meetup.com group so that you may have some company on your excursions.

Winter is a great time to hike, no snakes, no chiggers, no ticks. With the leaves off the trees you can really enjoy the landscape through the forested areas.

I agree okielalelady. I enjoy walking amongst the trees in winter better than summer due to NO insects. Skeeters love me.

Just wear bright clothing if hiking off the beaten path. The deer hunters are thicker than ticks! Okay, maybe not that bad, but all it takes is one idiot trigger happy moron.

We hike around our local lake for the most part. The dogs love it, and there are never any human beings around, which makes me happy.

Don't bet good money on that one! We went for a Nature hike just last month (in Sulphur) and wound up sharing the path with a decent sized Bull-Snake.

All depends on the current temps... we did have fun crunching through the leaves, so he heard us coming a mile away!
