The most handsome man in the world (IMO) was born there. Brad Pitt.

Well, while he looks a lot like Robert Redford, Redford was once the most handsome man in the world.

And Jess, is that really the best about Shawnee, because if it is, it isn't saying much. LOL. I used to say that the best thing about Florida were the beaches, and well, there is DisneyWorld.

I always thought the best thing about Shawnee was cornbread. I like Brad Pitt and all, but if he were here with a pot of beans I would have to share.....with cornbread, all I do is indulge.

Shawnee ain't a bad little town... Grandma, Aunt, and Uncle lived there for years. Real friendly folks around there.
As far as Brad Pitt, I don't give a rip about him or his holier-than-thou girlfriend Angelina.
And no, I'm not jealous of Brad. I'm a pretty good-lookin fella myself.

Sorry Jessaka, I've never been there. I just know Brad was born there. I really thought it was just sort of a "blink and you'll miss it" town, until I saw Peggys' pix. I have heard that theres a place right off the interstate that makes the best biscuits & gravy, but I don't remember the name.

Oh, and LadyRobyn knows some darn good looking guys!

I, for one, admire all that Angelina does. Because of her, Brad now does a lot of humanitarian work. As for whether you're "pretty good looking", why don't you let us be the judge of that.

The best thing about Shawnee is,,,,"It's home" and always will be. When I was there again in 03, my friend drove me around the area, It is beautiful, We went out to eat at several places, both fast food and sit down restaurants. Service was fast and friendly, Hamburger King is very good, The Brown Derby is also very good. I was introduced to many new people and visited old friends. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. There's the Twin Lakes, the water was getting low but still it was beautiful.
The one thing I didn't get to see was Garrett's Lake where we used to go swimming in the summer. I understand it is no longer there. What a shame. We had so much fun out there. It was just a small lake but crowded, and they had the best BBQ beef sandwich's I have ever tasted. There was a concrete island in the middle of the lake and a hugh water slide at one side of the lake. Went to a few little league games with my friend, even the kids were polite and friendly.

I'd say there are too many "Best things" about Shawnee to pick just one. Brad Pitt wouldn't be my first choice, I have nothing against the fellow, Kinda like Roger Miller and Sheb Wooley/Ben Colder are to Erick OK. I like them all. In fact, as a child, I admired Roger Miller very much and grew to love his music, He and my brother were friends way back then.
