It was pretty windy this last weekend but I really don't think it is all that windy of a place to live. Now my ranch has hills on all sides so that may help but I guess having lived in other states like IL. I wouldn't say Eastern Ok. would be a good place for wind farms. Go out in the panhandle where there are wind farms, I'd say there must be a whole lot more windy.

It’s windy for sure, and that can be pretty irritating. However if you don’t plan on living in the open countryside, it’s not that bad. Now hail is a different issue altogether. The low taxes however make up for everything else welcome to Oklahoma! You’ll get used to the vagaries of the weather in a bit.

I haven't been in Oklahoma since 1967. The things I still remember is the heat, constant wind, storms, and the largest hail I've ever seen in my life.
And some of the nicest people I've ever met.
I was in the Army and was "tdy" in Broken Bow for 9 months out of my home base at Ft Hood.
I helped build the air strip at the Broken Bow airport. It was a grass field then. I imagine it might be concrete by now.
I have fond memories of Broken Bow, Idabel, Beavers Bend, and a little blond haired girl I stilll think about.
Those were good days. I loved that area. Even with the wind.
I would like to visit there again sometime before I croak. It was one of the most enjoyable times of my life.
I'll never forget Broken Bow or the Lawrence family that treated me so good.
I could live there. Wind, hail, and all, and be happy.

It is hard to move with how low property taxes are here. Of course you can see why when you drive out roads but...I am not complaining about the roads because I do not want to pay more for better roads.
