It isn't? lol! I know, I have relatives there who are quite normal. I'm originally from Kansas, which has more than it's share of far right nuts. OK has some doozies though!

from the article........ "introducing legislation to create a new volunteer militia, designed to protect against what they see as the federal government's infringements on state sovereignty,"

So what are the specific infringements, and how would a militia protect against them?

Also, I believe there is something in the Constitution "usually something these types of people complain loudly about not being followed correctly" that says a state can't form a militia on its own, it takes approval by the US Congress.

Arent these people also the ones who usually say the US Military needs to be strong and well funded? And, how much extra is this militia going to cost our conservative state?

There's nothing extreme about this, several states already have one, such as Alaska, Vermont...

Most states don't take them seriously, it would be nice to see one that does.

They tend to cost little or nothing as they are volunteer forces. A militia by definition is volunteer and members supply their own equipment.
