funny article at the Omaha media blog (the website that reports on abusrd things in Omaha media)

Omaha TV News: Cost

Since KPTM is apparently willing to do anything to save a buck, perhaps instead of paying meteorologists, they can hire that octopus who predicted the World Cup winners. It'd probably be more accurate than Giggly Jim Flowers and his little sidekick, Seabiscuit, and considerably more watchable.

I was watching sux news last night. . I like to watch it and make fun of every mistake they make.

Every single broadcast there is guaranteed to be at least one missed microphone cue, or a missed camera cue.

Sometimes they step it up and forget a cut and you get a reporter staring into the camera like a goof. Or they put the wrong picture next to the anchor that doesn't match the story, or they put the wrong subtitle under a story. This is an occasional, couple times a week thing.

Last night though, was a rare screw up. Someone walked between the camera and the anchor. I had to rewind to make sure I saw it right. Someone decided that the fastest route to the donut table was right across in front of the camera. Excellent. These kind of mistakes are not that common, but they happen far more often than they should.

I also like how sometimes at the end of the broadcast they come back and they literally have 3 seconds of air time left, but they decide they want to use it anyways. So they come on real quick and say "84 degrees tomorrow" or "that's all" or whatever, often times getting cut off mid sentence. If you have to come back just show them sitting at the desk talking, or shuffling their papers or whatever and play music. We don't need a 3 second useless quip.

there should be a drinking game for the mistakes wowt makes

or for the hypocrisy or half-truths some owh reporters make in the paper.

you will be pretty blitzed after 5 minutes or reading some owh reporters articles or watching 5 minutes of the wowt news

btw, if wowt wants to play music during the newscast, I nominate this music to be played.

What is really so bad about Jim Flowers or the rest of Channel 6? Granted...I can't stand the new young guy they got doing the news...but for the most part, it's way better than Channel 3...that just screams "low-budget"

channel 3 is bad for so many reasons. Ryan McPike is exhibit a of that

but channel 6 takes bad omaha media to a whole nother level.

channel 3 has a while to catch up with laughable Malorie Maddox and Justin Joseph at channel 6.

speaking of bad media in Omaha

anyone noticed Rainbow Rowell, the woman who IMO inspired the dumbing down of the omaha world herald is back at the paper.

we got Joe Dejka and Josefine Loza and Michaela Saunders type of bad "reporters" at the omaha world herald.

this was her article in today's paper btw:

quote:

Anyone who knows me or who’s read my columns in the past knows that I’m a pop culture junkie.

I would have liked Elena Kagan better if she could have answered, “Team Edward or Team Jacob?”

This stuff matters to me.

And, obviously, there was only so much of it that was appropriate in the Midlands section. People who turn to the Midlands section expect to find some news there.

wait, the omaha world herald reports on news in the midlands section? I guess you can count the OPS pandering articles by Dejka and Saunders as "news"
