So, some things have come up, and I'm out looking for a place to live. I'm a 19 year old female who hasn't any credit in her name, so I know it's tough finding an apartment without it. Does anyone know of any apartments, or companies, that work with you if you don't have any credit history? The name, or location, or anything else would be great. I'm preferring something a little cheaper, around the later $400's all the way up to maybe around $600, that isn't complete crap, and preferably not in any bad neighborhoods. I've held a steady job for over a year and a half, and am just transitioning into an even better job, so I for sure have the income for it.

Most professionally run apartment complexes will likely run a credit check. Probably the best thing to do is to find someone with established credit like a parent or relative who can co-sign on a lease with you. What a co-signer does is give the property owner the right to go after that person for back rent if you get too far behind. They aren't saying you are a criminal for requesting a co-signer, but that they want just added assurance since you don't have much of a credit history.

I would check in small buildings that aren't complexes and are privately ran. There are lots of places like this in the Midtown area but I can't name specifics. The best thing to do would be drive around the area and see who has for rent signs out. There are always places like that around and in your price range that aren't bad places to live.

Hey, if you don't mind Bellevue, the complex I am living in looked past my bad credit history and took me in because of my time on the job and with their "gut feeling" a couple months ago. Like I said, it is in Bellevue and it's called Country Estates. It's not too bad of a place either! A one bedroom is in the $400's!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this complex is privately owned, so they are able to make a decision without having to have higher management approval. I've been here a couple months now and haven't had any issues. My apartment had new carpet in it and is in nice shape. Not too shabby!

Another issue here is ..... at 19 you need to establish credit. Good credit.

Not specifically related to the problem here, but food for thought.
